The last... Velocity Comics... newsletter... of 2009!!!

Hello, all--

Halfway over the holiday hump. You know what's great to sneak into your egg nog and take a sloppy guzzle? Tom Batten's and my TOP 10 lists of 2009! First up is Tom's:

COMICS (in no order):
1. Batman and Robin
2. Scalped
3. Ghost Rider
4. Beasts of Burden
5. Fantastic Four
6. Uncanny X-Men
7. Invincible Iron Man
8. Fables
9. Incognito
10. Amazing Spider-man

GNs:
1. ASTERIOS POLYP
2. That's it. Just Asterios Polyp.
3. I know that seems like a cop-out, to just have the one.
4. Being just one name on a list, though, would imply that there were other books that were comparable.
5. There isn't. Asterios Polyp is the finest comic of the decade.
6. The day it came out I stayed up until 3am reading it twice in a row.
7. And it's true, real comics. It's a story that couldn't be told in any other medium.
8. Well, at least not as well.
9. It's the rare thing that combines breathless experimentation, technical genius and actual profundity.
10. I also really liked PARKER and LOEG: 1910.

And here's mine:
Comics (in order because I'm anal like that):
1. Scalped
2. Batman & Robin 1, 2 and 3
3. Hellboy: The Wild Hunt
4. Ghost Rider
5. Fantastic Four
6. Ex Machina
7. Boy's Club
8. The Haunted Tank
9. Beasts of Burden
10. Detective Comics

GNs:
1. Asterios Polyp
2. Parker: The Hunter
3. Bayou
4. The Squirrel Machine
5. Stitches
6. Pim & Francie
7. LOEG: 1910
8. Tales Designed To Thrizzle
9. Remake
10. Scott Pilgrim 5

Hey, did you know that we're having a big end-of-year sale? From now through December 31st, we're knocking prices all over the dang store down, most stuff going for 25% to 50% off! Come on by and check it out!

SHIPPING this Wednesday, December 30th, with PICKS!

BLACKEST NIGHT #6 $3.99 Um, yep, this is all that's coming out this week. For real. The comic business agreed on a skip week, but DC kindly worked it out that we'd still be able to give customers a reason to get excited about coming in this week. Thanks, DC!

And thanks to all of you for supporting the shop in '09! We're working on ways to make Velocity an even better place to get your funnybook needs fulfilled. Have a great New year holiday!
